The Republican Era
Which One is worse?
The Republican Era was a period of chaos, there were generals and warlords running different parts of the country.
During the Republican Era, it was almost impossible for common people to afford such basic necessities as healthcare and education.
There were many protests and protestors were often executed, sometimes publicly in the streets.
There were massive taxes to pay for wars, the money collected went into the government and was never properly accounted for because there was massive corruption which enriched leaders in government departments and military, there was massive inflation making incomes worthless.
The country was split, not just along political lines but also along lines such as those who have and those who have not.
There were millions of drug addicts who received no treatment and were literally left to the families to support or sometimes to die in the streets.
Only the elites had a chance of getting anything done and the government wrote legislation to keep it that way, they invoked martial law to cut down on legitimate protests and used the military to quell dissent.
So much so that an opposition party rose up and a civil war ensued and, because of the incredible corruption of one side, the new party gathered enough support, they created an army of ordinary people, they started a war and then won that war to take back the country.
Now, I’ll leave it to you to figure out which Republican Era I’m talking about because the situation in China between 1911 and 1949 is very similar to another Republican Era which is happening across the world right now.
There are massive differences of opinions between different state governments and the Federal Government,, the Supreme Court is either for or against the elites and when they are against, they are subject to investigations and witch hunts, the elites are enriching themselves while the masses are working minimum wages in several jobs to keep going, they are incurring huge costs of living increases and whenever they take to the streets to protest, violence erupts and military are seen walking around some cities fully armed as if there were martial law in place - the police shoot and kill a minimum of three people a day in public. There are huge numbers of drug deaths, huge numbers of homeless, huge problems with income inequality, ordinary people can’t afford ordinary education but whenever a leader to this inequality emerges they are either murdered, incarcerated or disgraced by a compliant media.
The prisons ore overflowing with people who have done very little wrong but are part of a legalised operation that used to be known as slavery
The name Republican Era has become synonymous with mismanagement, corruption and mass murder and that doesn’t just mean in China.

On the police killing issue, one has to consider how many police are killed in a year in the US. Not many people have a civilian job where getting deliberately killed is just about normal. Obviously the US 'gun' culture is a bit weird but as I understand it there is a high degree of aggressiveness int eh culture as well.
Re; drug addicts, I thought Mao merely threatened a dose of 're-education' to solve the problem rather than treatment. ;)
Cheers
Hmm very enlightening!
