Trump says, "we do that too
The truth is, what he means is we do that, there's no "too" in the sentence - he's talking about China hacking, but there's no evidence China has ever hacked the USA, he's talked about Fentanyl, the only thing China has ever done is cooperated and restricted Fentanyl; the US has its own problems and China is definitely not the cause of them, here's another thing, China has VERY strict drug trafficking laws and when an American, or any other Westerner, gets caught we see them pleading for leniency and clemency. He's talked about IP theft but again, not a shred of evidence, in fact, China is leaping ahead of the West in many different technologies, that's not IP theft, that's innovation, the country and its inventors are diversifying away from US IP and open sourcing many of the products it's now developing. He's talked about China's subsidising automakers but that's what the US does, China's automakers have improved because there's fierce competition, lots of willing investors, huge investments in automation and a massive supply chain that keeps costs down as well as incentives offered by the government to make life better for ordinary Chinese people - not the same as subsidies and tariffs to prop up archaic industries.
Why does Trump, and every other politician for that matter, lie about China?
They talk about debt trapping and about social injustice but it's the USA that's removing social care for the poor, it's the USA that's entrapping Global South Countries into debts and leveraging their resources as part payment. China is the opposite, China builds dams, power stations, hospitals, schools and even parliament buildings as well as the African CDC building. None of these come with any debt provisions that benefit China, they only benefit local people, who, as their lifestyle and income improves, are well aware of who helped them and remember who exploited them
It's US employers that refuse to pay decent wages so a cup of coffee, which costs next to nothing to make $36 billion in income for Starbucks while the Barista making that survives on the generosity of tippers. Job creation in the US is a myth, that Barista probably works in a bar or club at night to make ends meet. Job creation in the US, which declined this month, is based on part time, casual and underpaid work. Slave labour exists in prison and illegal practices thrive with undocumented workers being paid under the minimum wage, on that note, Trump is even giving touting exemptions on workers in agriculture and hospitality (perhaps because he himself owns hotels) meaning that ordinary Americans can't have those jobs, if they ever wanted them!
There's no homelessness in China but in the USA, homelessness increases as does poverty, something China has eradicated, at the same time life expectancy continues to decline as it has been doing since long before Covid mismanagement caused a surge in deaths. Educational standards decline according to their own statistics while all the opposite is true in China and these are the reasons why they lie about China, they can't have you believing that Communist China is a better place to work, a safer place to live and a cheaper place to bring up your kids. I remember being so surprised when I arrived here 30 years ago - I knew immediately that I'd been lied to, it took me several years to realise just how badly misinformed I was and that weas with me living here. It's little wonder so many people say they love the Chinese, they love China but they hate the government. I felt the same for a long time - how wring I was.
All in all, everything US accuses China of, is projection - I'd challenge anyone to provide me evidence that China's guilty of anything the US has accused them of doing and also, I'd be willing to bet, and most likely prove without a shadow of doubt, that it's the US doing it while they accuse China of it. So, there's a challenge to my detractors, prove me wrong, I'll make a video of apology if you can but I don't think I'll be making that apology anytime soon.
There's more "great news for Americans, it seems that builders in Florida can work at China speed and managed to create a building to house 3000 people in just 8 days - that would be amazing if the people being housed where any of the 30,000 homeless people in the State of Florida but no, they don't get housed the people who will get beds in this facility are awaiting deportation, some of them who have lived years in the country, some even fought for the country or have children who do. I'm not sure what stage of capitalism that is, but watching China construct a much needed hospital and many quarantine centres for thousands of people in just days was impressive - watching Trump stroll through what looked like a scene from a dystopian cage fighter series was not.
One of my friends on Twitter, Arnaud Bertrand, one of the best thinkers ands analysts on Twitter had this to say of Trump and I quote:
"There are many things Trump says he's doing that I agree with, but how he's doing them is proving he won't be able to and the people will suffer more".
He should try to move manufacturing to the USA but he can't, he's punishing, not incentivising people and let's be honest, Americans don't want to sit in factories lacing and packing shoes assembled in the Global South.
He should improve education but it isn't going to work while the costs are so great, capitalism has made education unaffordable for ordinary people and on the same note, it's created the same problem in healthcare. People are dying earlier in the USA because of a lack of education, in some notable cases, a lack of sanitation and for the vast majority of people a lack of affordable healthcare.
Crime in China is almost non-existent, the murder rate doesn't even register on the scale, the violent crime rates have dropped to a point where not one person in my wide circle of friends has ever been a victim, the same goes for burglary, shoplifting isn't a thing here, I go shopping regularly and have never once seen evidence of it. Car thefts don't exist, you can leave your bags in the back of the car and no one will bother them so theft from cars is unheard of But Trump isn't even trying to reduce crime, they just change the criteria for managing it and use the police to protect the elites rather than the taxpayers who pay to be served and protected.
Crime is linked to poverty and it's only increasing as the rich get richer and the poor look for ways to survive. Trump isn't going to fix the fentanyl problem because people take that to escape their miserable lives and shifting the blame to China, Mexico and Canada is not going to take away the desire of these poor victims of political policies to escape.
He isn't improving housing problems because he's busy building prisons - I wonder if, Florida used any slave labour to construct this concentration camp, what I do know is that the same companies that donated millions to Trump's, and Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis', campaigns were involved, SLSCO and CDR Emergency Management Consultancy we both big profiteers in this venture.
In short, probably the only thing that Trump can do to improve his own standing and the lot of 300 million or more American citizens, is to sign up for the BRI and ask China for help, and we all know that isn't going to happen - so, as the joke says, the CIA has exposed China's "secret plan" which is to simply sit back and watch as the USA slowly but surely destroys itself.
Very good point! But consider why Trump doesn’t even need to substantiate the accusation about China (eg cyberattacks). All this misinformation is simply taken for granted in the Western media, and not just the media, even intellectuals and commentators I respect take these accusations for granted. The parochialism is awful.
Indeed! ❤️👍💯
