As I approach the end of a long life, I have finally arrived at the opinion that pure democracy can function effectively only with an intelligent, well educated and informed populace. Name me one country where that can be found. Meanwhile the Chinese version seems to me to provide the best substitute, and judging by results, that must be so.
Thanks Jerry, there are a few sites you can go to, the Chinese government, despite what Western media and politicians say, is surprisingly open about what it's doing - you can read any Chinese media in English too, they are also much more open than we are led to believe, and stringently honest too, I've written for them and found that they will fact check everything, if there are no citations, they won't publish so I know they are accurate
Back in the early days of America, its forefathers drew their inspiration from the Roman Empire as the basis for what the new country / state. If you look at history, the Roman Empire was ruled by the society elite (property and slave owners, industrial and business owners, etc.) with the top position (Caeser post) being acquired through money or favors. One should not be surprised when the likes of Elon Musk so overtly touts how he influenced or bought a Presidency for his good buddy (at the time), Donald Trump.
Are you saying capitalism exists in China? I doubt the CPC would agree.
But CPC does acknowledge a market system operates in China. Markets can have a “decisive role”in allocating resources under socialism and capitalism. Just that in China the market remains firmly regulated.
Thanks for reading my comment. If you insist on saying capitalism exists in China, I suggest you clarify what “capitalism” means. I think it refers to a political system in which the capitalist class dominates. If that is the correct definition, then I suspect even you would agree there is no capitalism in China. But if your definition is that capitalism is an economic system in which resources are allocated through the market mechanism (which I would call a “market system”), then yes “capitalism” exists in China.
I read all my comments and reply to most of them - we're not going to have an argument over opinions - I'm not a theorist, I'm an observer, many theroists would call me wrong, I only speak about what I know and observe living in China - if you want to discuss the merits or otherwise of Marsism, Capitalism, or even Communism as it is defined, then you're speaking with the wrong person, I'm no expert, I'm merely providing opinions based on experiences, not based on dialectics. You have your definitions, I have my opinions - I'm not insisting on anything, merely pointing out that there are capitalist in China and they are allowed to exist under the Socialist system
My comment is that it's total BS, he's going nowhere until he's ready to go - he's China's most popular leader in a generation, wEstern media never ask Chinese people what they think - I do

I agree 100% Walt
Thank you, very on point. Would love to learn more about how the Chinese political systems works from someone on the ground.

Check out the NPC (http://en.npc.gov.cn.cdurl.cn/) or the State Council Information Office websites (http://english.scio.gov.cn/) for real information about what China is doing too
Indeed! Insightful and true! ❤️👍💯

Not at all surprising, what is surprising is how long they've got away with calling it a democracy!
I have come to think of "democracy" as an espoused philosophy rather than an actual hardwired policy.

Yes, of course capitalism exist in China, it's regulated, that's the difference

Western media are speculating that Xi is about to be pushed out.
Does Jerry have any comment on this speculation?
