Wherever you are, welcome to another of my takes on China and this one is an interesting one, at least I think so
China is doing great, it's not to say that there aren't some issues, it's July now and the Youth unemployment numbers will spike again as they do every June or July, it's higher than any country would like but it's on a par with most developed nations and jobs are plentiful, unemployment overall is manageable but could be better, Trade is up, GDP is growing, consumption s increasing and is far better than most of the EU, the UK and definitely the USA, personal health and personal wealth are improving, educational standards are increasing and crime is almost non-existent, there are some drug addicts in China but they are rare, there is no homelessness, no poverty in the entire country and the murder rate hardly registers on the scale and is so low that even rounding up, it's still a tiny percentage of most of the world. So, a great many people ask the question, why doesn't China help the USA?
And then, a great many people answer this questions with comments such as this one from @ksantitan on my YouTube comments who said in response to one of my videos, where I suggested that the USA could always ask China for help but never will, and I quote: "What Jerry suggested appears to be a paradox at best or madness at worst. Why would China help an enemy (especially an ingrate) bent on destroying China?
I do believe that, if the USA, or any one of its States individually, asked China for specific help, or wanted to sign a Memorandum of Understanding for the Belt And Road Initiative, or what China calls the One Belt One Road, "Yi Dai Yi Lu" China would leap to help. But what @ksantitan said actually makes sense to most people, especially people in the West.
However, I'd argue that saying this is an indication that people don't understand China at all - China doesn't see America, or American people as the enemy. Surprisingly, I'd even argue that China doesn't see the American government as an enemy either. What China asks is that certain American politicians, also some European and other country politicians take a good look at the evidence of the allegations they are making - the truth is, if they were to do so and do so with an open mind, they would realise that the allegations they make, are, 100% of the time wrong.
How wrong, depends on the situation and where the information comes from. For 70 years or more, the US has openly admitted that it has attempted to destabilise China, how it does this is by taking small, local grievances and turning them into a global threat. Let me give you some examples:
China did not invade Xizang, I'll call the Region Tibet for the purposes of this explanation, although Xizang is more correct. The US have perpetuated this myth for decades and use exiled Tibetans, who did not agree with socialist policies, as willing tools to enhance the story - there are now new generations of Tibetans who have never set foot in the region but firmly believe their relatives are oppressed. They are not but they tell me in comments that they know from other relatives in India that they are - my advice to them is come to China and see for yourself - of course they will not - my advice to China, if they were to listen to me, would be to facilitate visits by Tibetan diaspora to meet with Tibetans in Tibet. One thing is certain in my mind, any Washington based Tibetan coming to the Region would be very hard placed to convince any Tibetan living there being part of China is a bad thing.
China does not oppress Muslims, there are millions of Muslims in China, they have their own autonomous regions in places like Ningxia and Gansu, as well as Xinjiang. But, in particular, China doesn't oppress Uyghur Muslims. Again, there are some Uyghurs who do not like China, they formed terrorist cells and now operate in places such as Syria where for political reasons, the US now welcome them as liberators while the UN, Australia and others recognise them for what they are, terrorists. Indonesia, a huge Muslim Country has outlawed these terrorists and has arrested some and deported them back to China, as has Thailand, where they started a bombing campaign in tourist spots. These are things the West never gets to hear about. Again, Washington supports this and even funds it, calling it funding democracy but if democracy needs to be fought for with US funding weapons, then it isn't democracy at all, it's not want people want anywhere. I'm certain that even terrorists don't wake up in the morning and decide to become terrorists, they are led into that path by conditions and helped along the path by enablers, there is no doubt at all that the Washington sources such as US AID and the NED are such enablers.
As they were proven to be in Hong Kong, during the 2019 protests, which started through genuine grievances about housing and inequality. There were legacies left by the British Administration but which had not been addressed - the protests were genuine protests for better conditions but turned violent, it was clear that the US were funding this violence, I don't say this as a theory, I know this to be true through documents produced in court cases and reported in honest media, but not in most Western media.
So, there are people in America, and elsewhere, who deliberately destabilise China but the vast majority of Americans, even the vast majority of politicians and journalists are just not getting the correct information, they are misinformed by small but very well organised, well funded and influential group, or groups. The vast majority of American, as I suspect the vast majority of Germans were in the 1930s, are being misinformed into believing something to be true, when it is not. In the case of politicians, they pay to be informed and should get genuine information, sadly, they do not, in the case of journalists, they seek information and should get it right but again, they do not. Not one journalist I know who has been to Xinjiang has seen any evidence of oppression, they have reported seeing some, having feelings about it, sensing it in some kind of aura or atmosphere that I don't seem to posses when I visit the region but their video and photographic evidence simply doesn't stack up when analysed. They are either imposing a bias on their audience (sometime willingly and deliberately) or they are being very lazy. Many of them haven't even visited the region, they often cite others who haven't visited the region either making them doubly lazy, incredibly naive or very stupid. My personal opinion of journalists in mainstream media is not good, they can, and should do better.
The one thing China has consistently asked for is cooperation over conflict. Helping the US to become great, might sound very strange to people who think and view through a western lens, but to China and most Chinese people, it makes perfect sense to have a strong, well-informed, intelligent and even a powerful USA, it would improve relations, it would boost consumption, it could assist the global south throw of poverty and it wold lead to a much better world all round - isn't that something Americans should want too?
To finish this comment and to demonstrate that I'm not alone in thinking along these lines, I'd like to quote a person I follow on X who has probably done more to enlighten people on how Asians think than any other Asian, Sony Thang @nxt888, who said this to someone who wanted to see the USA devastated: "I understand your frustration, but wishing devastation on ordinary Americans isn't helpful or necessary. The goal isn't vengeance or flattening an entire nation—it's ending an unjust system of domination. Americans, like all people, deserve dignity, peace, and the chance to build something better. The day American power no longer rules through fear doesn't have to mean destruction there. It means justice, accountability, and a safer, fairer world for everyone, including Americans themselves."
I couldn't agree more and I find myself nodding in agreement to a lot of Sony's comments on X. China, by showing they are willing to help is a gesture that would assist USA's recovery as well as assist globally
Once you look through a Chinese lens, you see things very differently.
Does the US even want to help itself? That fundamental issue needs to be sorted out first. China could more usefully help nations that genuinely seek to develop their own societies. Just saying.
Another great take on China. I would like to suggest a topic which you can discuss. It's a practice in China called 'stock lottery'. It's a socialist method at democratizing IPO, which is so unamerican where large financial institutions always get first dibs.
